Today was supposed to be a relatively easy reintroduction to cycling after taking a whole day off. We took a meandering path out of Boise via the city's excellent series of bike paths. It's apparent that Boise is undergoing an economic boom. New housing is going up everywhere. When we got to the southern outskirts I saw one explanation. Micron Technologies is obviously prospering as their already large campus has expanded 4 fold in 8 years.

It was back on I-84 for about 10 miles. While riding on the shoulder, a very large and slow moving trailer started to gain on us. The vehicle took the right lane and a good part of the shoulder. Turned out to be carrying a huge Army tank which managed to squeeze by us. Too close for pictures.
After leaving the interstate we rolled through miles of empty sand and sagebrush. There was an occasional house and whimsical sign but not much else.

Mountain Home wasn't near a mountain, just a bit of civilization that seems to have popped up out of the sagebrush. There is an Air Force Base about 15 miles away which must be part of it's purpose
