After seven days of extremely difficult riding, just about everyone's body is beaten up and aching. I am aching in a very specific and painful way and am looking forward to getting my old saddle that's supposed to arrive in Boise during our stay. My expectation is that it will fix things, hope I'm right.
Today's ride gets us to Boise and the first rest day of the trip. Our motel was about a mile from state line so after seven very difficult days we were finally set to get out of Oregon. We crossed the Snake River into Idaho and took the obligatory pictures.

Oregon was beautiful but tough riding |
There must be better water rights for farmers in Idaho than Oregon because immediately everything was much greener, the farms lost the rundown look common in Oregon and there was obvious prosperity. We rolled through immense but neatly planted fields of potatoes, lavender, mint, sugar beets, turnips as well as the usual corn, soybeans and wheat.

Water was being sprayed everywhere |
We took a long route around the northern edge of Boise to avoid go through the city. New houses were going up everywhere and Boise seems to be sprawling out and engulfing the nearby farmland. For the first time all trip, we saw a large number of recreational cyclists heading out of town. The ride was short enough to get us into town before the hotel rooms were ready so the entire group stopped at a local brewpub for lunch (but no beer as drinking and riding is ). We made it to a Courtyard by Marriott downtown which was a step up in class over our usual lodgings. Instead of mixing with budget minded tourists and truck drivers this hotel was full of business people in suits which contrasted well with our cycling outfits.
